Being heard in privacy makes a difference when a family seeks help. In Rancho Queimado, the Conselho Tutelar, the local Child Protection Council, now has renovated facilities with a dedicated consultation room. The improvements were presented by the Ministério Público de Santa Catarina in a report on October 13 and reflect an essential part of community care: welcoming children and teenagers and protecting their rights.
Care begins with the space
The headquarters, alongside the administrative center, gained a reception area, a private space for conversations, a kitchen, an accessible bathroom, and air conditioning. Council member Rosana Rassveiler highlighted the improvement in privacy to MPSC. Until early 2025, the council used a shared space, without its own room or bathroom.
For someone arriving with a sensitive concern, being able to talk in a separate room is a change worth noticing. The physical space is also part of how a service welcomes people.
An improvement followed over time
The renovation was part of a proceeding overseen by the Public Prosecutor's Office, which also monitored equipment, transportation support, and training. The inquiry was closed in July, and the decision was ratified in August. The news published in October presents the outcome of that oversight.
Information that helps us care
The Child Protection Council works to protect children's and teenagers' rights, receives reports of violations, and refers cases to the responsible services. Understanding this role helps the community know where to seek guidance.
If you need to get in touch, check municipal channels for the current address and service details. And when sharing this news, respect families' privacy: it is possible to raise awareness of an important service without exposing the stories of those who need it. Caring for a town also means showing this respect in everyday life.
